History
The Cervantes Society of America was founded in 1978 and held its first membership meeting in San Francisco in December, 1979. Over the years, the CSA has maintained visibility in the academic community in the U.S. and abroad through publication of the journal Cervantes and collaborations with Hispanists worldwide. annual business meeting
The CSA holds a yearly business meeting at the annual conference of the Renaissance Society of America. This meeting is open to all members of the CSA. At the business meeting, members can volunteer for committees, approve resolutions submitted by the Executive Council, and learn about the CSA’s latest initiatives. The meeting features a keynote address by a renowned scholar in the field of Cervantes studies. A brief report from the 2024 meeting can be downloaded here.

Publication of the peer-reviewed journal Cervantes: Bulletin of the Cervantes Society of America
Sponsorship of academic sessions at the annual meetings of the Renaissance Society of America, the Modern Language Association of America, and the South Atlantic Modern Language Association.
Provision of grants to graduate students and nontenure-track scholars to present original scholarship on Cervantes at approved conference venues
Collaboration with the Asociación de Cervantistas for a joint international Cervantes conference in 2023
Sponsorship of a North American Cervantes conference every three years
